End of a web era
Many longtime websites have been shutting down this year. They're either going offline completely or into archival mode, and might continue to publish a newsletter or post on some social media.
What finally made me decide to post about it was Om Malik's ode to Minimalissimo, which is going into archival mode plus newsletter after 15 years. I've signed up for the newsletter via RSS (so much better than having it in my inbox)—even though it's a new site to me, it aligns with my interests.
At the same time all this is happening, it seems like many people are rediscovering blogging for its own sake, a way of expressing oneself. I find that an interesting contrast.
