Social Attention: a modest prototype in shared presence by Matt Webb (Interconnected)

Making the web “feel warmer and more lively” is an interesting problem. Concepts like highlighting text someone is currently selecting, or indicating when someone else is ‘around’, are a good start. What else would make the web—especially personal pages—feel more welcoming? One idea I had is showing what you’re currently listening to; so I now have a widget which, if I’m playing music on Spotify, shows what’s now playing. Limitation: only updates with a page refresh, which I assume would be fixable with JavaScript if I knew it.
